Amusement Park Comedies from
the 1920s

(1923-1927)

Contents: The Sheik of Hollywood (1923), Tire Trouble (1924), Boys Will Be Joys (1925) and Beauty and the Bump (1927).

This collection of short comedies focuses on films with amusement park backgrounds. Interesting as much for historical documentation as for laughs.

This DVD-R collection has been mastered from 16mm and 8mm reduction prints. The source prints have the usual flaws common to vintage reduction prints including dust, speckling, frame jitters, and other print flaws. The print of Tire Trouble (1924) is an abbreviated Pathégrams 8mm reduction print. Intended to discourage video bootlegging, occasionally the initials “EEI” and the old Encore website address will appear in the lower part of the picture. We wish that video publishers did not feel compelled to do this as it is distracting from the viewing experience for the collector of the disc. All of that said, the viewing experience is reasonably good.

The films are accompanied by soundtracks comprised of preexisting music recordings of varying audio quality.

Unfortunately, this collection of hard-to-find short comedies is now out-of-print.
